California Rain Recap: Thunderstorms Dropped Up to 0.5” East of Sacramento on Monday

Sacramento, Calif. – Showers and thunderstorms brought measurable rain to Eastern California on Monday, with some communities seeing up to half an inch of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

According to NWS data released Tuesday morning, the heaviest totals were observed from Grass Valley to Blue Canyon, where estimated rainfall reached between 0.25 and 0.5 inches. Lighter showers dampened areas near Placerville, South Lake Tahoe, and Susanville with around 0.1 inch of rain.

While major valleys like Sacramento, Stockton, and Modesto stayed mostly dry, foothill regions experienced slick roads and reduced visibility. Caltrans urged drivers to slow down on Highways 50 and 49 during Monday’s afternoon commute.
