The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying a man who tragically died after jumping from a parking garage in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.
Incident Overview
According to MCPD, the incident occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at approximately 9:57 p.m. Emergency responders were dispatched to the 800 block of Ellsworth Drive, a busy area in Silver Spring, following reports of a person falling from a parking structure.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive man who was later pronounced dead. Investigators confirmed that the man had jumped from the garage. His identity, however, remains unknown.
Description of the Decedent
Police have released a description of the individual in hopes that someone in the community might recognize him. The man is described as:
- A Black male
- Estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old
- Wearing a white, long-sleeve shirt featuring a Nike logo on the chest
- Also wearing grey sweatpants and grey shoes
No identification or personal belongings that could help confirm his identity were found at the scene.
Detectives Request Public Assistance
The Major Crimes Division of MCPD is now leading the investigation and is urging anyone who may have seen the man prior to the incident—or who may recognize him based on the clothing description—to come forward.
“This is a tragic situation,” said an MCPD spokesperson. “Our priority now is to identify this young man so we can notify his family and begin to understand the circumstances that led to this heartbreaking event.”…
