ACFR rescues horse from septic tank

JONESVILLE, Fla. – At about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, Alachua County Fire Rescue received a call from Jonesville for a horse that had fallen into a septic tank. The horse was walking around the property when the lid to the home’s septic tank gave way while it was standing on it. One of the horse’s front legs fell through, and the horse became entrapped.

Alachua County Fire Rescue’s technical rescue trucks from Station 23 responded. Together with teams from UF’s Animal Technical Rescue Branch, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, and a local large animal veterinarian, the horse was rescued from its precarious predicament…
