Two months ago, a devastating crash along a stretch of Interstate 35 in North Austin led to an 18-vehicle pile-up, claiming the lives of five people and injuring nearly a dozen others. In the months since, the driver of a truck hauling for Amazon is alleged to have caused the fatal crash, and millions in lawsuits are pending related to the case.

5 people killed in 18-vehicle pile-up
Law enforcement and medical personnel responded around 11:30 p.m. on March 13 to reports of a pile-up crash on Southbound I-35, near Parmer Lane and Howard Lane in North Austin. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services later confirmed 17 people were involved in the crash, with five pronounced dead on scene: three adults, one child and one infant.
Eleven others were injured in the crash, with medics taking two adults with life-threatening injuries to St. David’s Round Rock while three adults — two with life-threatening injuries and one with minor injuries — were transported to Dell Seton Medical Center.
