Blind Arkansas student finds home in broadcast booth

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — For Dallas Cathey, the sounds of a ballpark speak a special language.

“The cracks of the bat, the pops of the glove, the crowds, the organs, the announcers,” he said. “It’s just always been what I love.”

A sophomore at the Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Cathey has only ever experienced the game through those sounds. Blind at birth, he found a love for the game as he followed his brother, Holden’s, travel baseball team…
