Letters: Closing French Quarter to cars would disadvantage those who have trouble walking

In a letter that appeared on April 10, Preston Valois expressed his support for reducing vehicular traffic in the heart of the French Quarter. He stated that the area is small, only seven blocks between the river and Rampart Street, so “it should be no arduous journey for anyone” to park at a lot on the river and walk to their destination. But what if it is? What about people who can’t walk seven blocks or at all?

It cannot be assumed that everyone who lives in, works in or visits the French Quarter is able-bodied…
