FAIRFAX, Va. — A high-speed police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash and chase on Wednesday morning after Virginia State Police (VSP) attempted to stop a driver on I-495.
According to officials, the incident began just before 9 a.m. when a state trooper tried to pull over a driver traveling northbound near Braddock Road. In addition to allegedly using a cellphone while driving, a traffic violation, a check of the license plate revealed that the driver had outstanding warrants in both Fairfax and Prince William Counties.
When the driver refused to stop, a pursuit began. The suspect sped off along the right shoulder of the Beltway at a dangerously high rate of speed. Concerned for public safety, the pursuing trooper eventually called off the chase…
