Nampa denies restaurant on skinny lot, but provides a possible path forward

Plans for a new restaurant on a narrow strip of land hit a roadblock on Monday.

Brenda and Oswaldo Rodriguez submitted an application to the City of Nampa to rezone 1215 13th St. S. from two-family residential to commercial business in hopes of building an 1,100 sq. ft. restaurant on the property. The city’s planning and zoning department voted to recommend approval of the plans in February.

At Monday’s Nampa City Council meeting, city council members and Mayor Debbie Kling expressed concern about the proposed parking and drive aisles for the site. A vote to deny the project split 3-3, with council members David Bills, Natalie Jangula, and Randy Haverfield voting to deny, and council members Dale Reynolds, Sebastian Griffin, and Victor Rodriguez voting to let it move forward.
