First Alert Weather: Sunny and dry skies in the forecast

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A change in the weather pattern is locked in. High pressure from the south will continue to build, and moisture to produce rain will be lacking for the rest of the week. Skies will remain sunny. In fact, it will be hard to find a cloud near the coast. Even well inland, skies will only feature a few fair-weather clouds. So, if you have outdoor plans, the rest of the week will be perfect for you.

Temperatures will slowly be on the rise. Today, we stay seasonal with highs in the upper 80s, which is near average for this time of year. By the weekend, many inland locations will see temperatures rise into the 90s. Although the Gulf is warming, it will still be cool enough to provide a pleasant sea breeze—nature’s air conditioning. With a continued west wind helping to push the sea breeze inland, even residents east of the interstate will enjoy a refreshing burst of cooler air late in the afternoon to help break the daytime heat.

Despite a westerly wind flow, our dew points are forecast to remain in the upper 60s to lower 70s over the next few days. While this isn’t the low humidity we see in fall, it will feel relatively comfortable for this time of year—certainly better than the mid-70s dew points we’ll routinely experience in just a few weeks…
