A fresh take on a neighborhood classic continues to make some of Phoenix’s best Italian cuisine

On the edge of Paradise Valley, tucked along Tatum and Shea, a local Italian restaurant is writing its own story – one grounded in tradition, shaped by experience, and propelled by a steadfast conviction of what a neighborhood Italian restaurant should be.

Up until April 2024, this spot was known as Nick’s Italian, a beloved staple where Jason Brody had built a career from the ground up. He started right before his 16th birthday – first as a kid in the kitchen, eventually becoming the heartbeat behind the bar. For nearly two decades, he poured himself into the business, learning every facet of the restaurant world under the guidance of mentor and owner Nick. When the opportunity came to take the reins, Jason didn’t hesitate. Backed by encouragement from a loyal guest and friend, he made the leap, purchased the business in October 2022, and later gave it a new name that carried his legacy: Brody’s Italian.
