PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — One to three inches of rain fell in a short amount of time Thursday morning, causing significant street flooding in parts of our area.
Much of the flooding happened in eastern Rhode Island, where some roadways looked like rivers as drivers made their way to work.
In addition to the downpours, the line of storms also brought thunder and lightning and caused some power outages, mostly in southern Rhode Island and Bristol County, Mass. The majority of the outages were restored by Thursday afternoon.
The stormy weather quieted down as the morning went on, but additional showers are possible through the afternoon.
