Eugene parks staff prepare Riverfront Park Plaza for summer opening

EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene’s Riverfront Development continues to evolve and yesterday workers started preparing for a new addition just in time for summer.

About 100 Eugene Parks and Open Space staff gathered to weed, mulch, prune, and plant across from Riverfront Park on Wednesday. It’s all in preparation for the new plaza that is set to open in a couple months. Workers worked from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. as they fanned out in groups across the park.

“I think it means a lot to our park staff to be able to come together for a single morning,” said Kelly Shadwick with Eugene Parks and Open Space. “And just work together and get to know each other better and have fun together. while also making an impact to the park.”…
