Potter County Sheriff’s Office warns of new scam

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Potter County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a new scam.

The sheriff’s office said they were called by a community member asking if they had a warrant for not going to jury duty. Officials established that the community member was contacted by a scammer.

The scammer said the community member had an outstanding warrant for missing jury duty and would have to meet with them to pay cash and make the warrant go away.

“The Potter County Sheriff’s Office will never contact anyone to make them pay for getting out of a warrant or ever ask a member of this community for cash or meet with them to get cash from them. Please be aware of this ongoing SCAM,” said the sheriff’s office…
