New York Attorney General Launches Investigation into Brooklyn Civilian Death Involving NYPD Officers

The New York Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of a civilian in Brooklyn, an incident involving NYPD officers. The events in question took place on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Attorney General’s Office. The Office of Special Investigation (OSI), under the helm of Attorney General James, is tasked with assessing incidents where law enforcement’s actions may have led to a civilian’s death, in accordance with New York State Executive Law Section 70-b.

Reports indicate that NYPD officers were responding to a 911 call about a domestic dispute. Arriving at the apartment from where the call was made, they encountered a man who was allegedly armed with a knife. After an officer’s Taser seemed not to deter the individual, who continued to advance, according to preliminary details, an officer fired their service weapon and the man was hit. Following this, the man was promptly taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries…
