DURHAM, NC – Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) invites the community to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the nationally recognized Bimbé Cultural Arts Festival — a vibrant tribute to African and African American history, culture, and traditions.
The free, family-friendly festival takes place Saturday, May 17, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rock Quarry Park (701 Stadium Drive). Enjoy a full day of live performances, food, crafts, community resources, and entertainment for all ages.
Festival Highlights:
- Live Music & Performances hosted by K97.5’s Brian Dawson, featuring:
- Just Fine – Mary J. Blige Tribute Band
- Africa LIVE! – immersive African music and dance
- D. Shawn – smooth R&B vibes
- Headliner Raheem DeVaughn – delivering his signature soul sound
- Family Fun Zone with drum circles, inflatables, face painting, arts & crafts, a gaming truck, and more
- Local Vendors offering handcrafted goods and community services
- Food Trucks serving delicious cuisine from across the Triangle
- Durham County Library’s Bookmobile with a free book giveaway and library card registration
