A motorcycle rider died in a collision with a pickup truck on Friday morning. The crash happened at the intersection of Bass Road and North Carolina Highway 24-27 near the Sky Mart in Cameron around 5:30 a.m.
Though first responders administered CPR on the motorcyclist after arriving, their attempts were unsuccessful.
Early morning traffic backed up for over a mile on the state highway. Many drivers turned around on the less busy rural Bass Road or were forced to find alternate routes while authorities investigated the scene.
