SMU is officially on a recruiting heater.
The Mustangs scored another big win on the trail Thursday as Ryan “Deuce” Gilbert, a three-star cornerback out of North Forney (Texas), announced his commitment to SMU during his spring game. The 2026 defender had offers from Oklahoma, Oregon, Washington, and several others — but it was SMU that sealed the deal.

This marks the sixth commitment for SMU in May alone, and Gilbert is yet another high-upside prospect flipping the narrative around Mustang recruiting.
