An unlicensed driver from Brazil was arrested after running a stop sign.
Edson Paula Souza, 48, of Mulberry, was driving a white Honda CRV shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday when he ran a stop sign at NE 108th Place at Cherry Lake Road, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
During a traffic stop, a deputy noticed that Paula Souza “did not speak English very well.” He admitted he does not have a driver’s license, but claimed he is in the process of obtaining a driver’s license.
The native of Brazil was arrested on a charge of driving without a license and issued a written warning for running the stop sign. The car’s registered owner arrived on the scene and removed the vehicle…
