Soulman’s Bar-B-Que honors family matriarch with Free Pie Day

DALLAS (KDAF0 — Soulman’s Bar-B-Que is inviting North Texans to celebrate a very special legacy this month — and enjoy a sweet treat along the way.

On May 20, the barbecue chain will honor Mary Alice “Memer” Hallett, the family matriarch who helped shape the Soulman’s story, with a Free Pie Day at all 20 locations. The first 101 guests at each restaurant will receive a complimentary slice of Memer’s signature buttermilk pie with their dine-in meal, while supplies last.

Known as “Memer” to family and friends, Mary Alice Hallett was the heart of Soulman’s when it first opened in Pleasant Grove in 1974. Her homemade recipes, from side dishes to desserts, became the foundation for the restaurant’s tradition of Texas-style hospitality and flavor…
