Man sentenced for attacking two dogs in their yard

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man from Arkansas who attacked two dogs in a fenced yard in northern Colorado was sentenced Friday.

Court records show David Thompson, 47, pleaded guilty in Larimer County court in March to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. He was sentenced Friday to one year in the Department of Corrections for each charge, with credit for 17 days served. The Coloradoan reports that the sentences will be served at the same time, effectively giving him a one-year sentence.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said on the night of Aug. 29, 2022, they received a report that a man had attacked two dogs in a fenced yard in Wellington. One of the dogs, named Jax, died, and the other, named Diesel, was seriously hurt after both were stabbed…
