Austin Heats Up: Week Ahead Brings Near 100-Degree Temperatures and Mixed Skies

The city of Austin is buckling up for a week filled with warm temperatures and a mix of sun and clouds, with highs teetering close to the 100-degree mark. According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies with a high near 97 degrees. The heat index, adding insult to injury, could reach as high as 105. Winds from the south, around 10 mph, may provide minor relief, despite gusting up to 25 mph.

The night brings increasing clouds as the temperature lowers to about 75, with continuous breezes from the southeast around the same speed, gusts may still reach up to 25 mph. With Monday ushering in a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms post 1pm, the clouds are expected to give way to mostly sunny conditions again, while the high temperature hovers near today’s peak, and the heat index could edge up to a scorching 106 degrees.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are on the docket for Monday night and early Tuesday, before yielding to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures on Tuesday are predicted to climb near 96 degrees, cooling to around 69 by nightfall. The rest of the week follows suit with partly sunny to sunny days and partly cloudy nights, fluctuating temperatures in the mid-90s during the day, dipping into the upper 60’s to low 70’s at night…
