Hit and run motorist drove past crash scene with victim’s hair embedded in windshield: police

The hit-and-run driver who killed a 76-year-old pedestrian on the South Side this week drove past the scene while cops were investigating the crash—and she had a chunk of the victim’s hair embedded in her smashed windshield, a Chicago police report said.

Officers on patrol came upon the victim lying lifeless in the traffic lanes near 70th and Western Avenue around 9:23 p.m. on Tuesday. Witnesses told them they saw a speeding silver vehicle strike the man as it traveled north on Western, according to the report. The driver kept going.

About 30 minutes later, officers at the crash scene saw a silver Hyundai Santa Fe travel past them with a heavily damaged front end and a “large crack” in the windshield, the report said…
