DUARTE, Calif. — When the Eaton Fire forced Isabella Barnett and her family out of their longtime home, the high school senior returned to an old comfort: painting nails.
She first picked up the hobby during the pandemic to escape the uncertainty of that time. Now, it’s helping her process the trauma of displacement.
“I was in that home from 9 to 17,” Barnett said. “It was my, like, monumental years as a kid. It was definitely hard. It still is. I don’t think it’s going to be easier anytime soon.”…
