Florida Heat Alert: Orlando, Melbourne Hit 100–105°F Heat Index Monday Afternoon

Orlando, Florida – Temperatures across Central Florida are expected to soar into the low to mid-90s Monday, with peak heat index values pushing 105°F in several cities — a level that can become dangerous by early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, highs will challenge records in Orlando (97°F), Sanford (98°F), and Fort Pierce (97°F). Heat index values of 100–105°F are forecast across much of the I-95 corridor through at least 5 p.m. A limited 10–20% chance for showers may offer slight relief near sunset, mostly inland.

In Orlando, Melbourne, Vero Beach, and surrounding areas, residents are urged to limit time outdoors, especially between 1 and 5 p.m. Job sites should offer shaded breaks, and cooling centers may be needed for vulnerable groups. Heat safety remains critical — never leave children or pets inside parked cars…
