Lifelong Dream of ‘Wheel’ Win Ends in Heartbreak

A San Diego Marine’s lifelong dream of appearing on Wheel of Fortune came true during the show’s “Bragging Rights Week,” but the bonus round proved a little too challenging. Courtney White competed against fellow service members Tess Lee and Joe Vargas, engaging in some playful on-air rivalry.

White had a strong start, even surviving her friend Lee accidentally landing on the dreaded Bankrupt wedge. This unfortunately cost all three contestants a shot at the $1 million wedge, much to Vargas’s chagrin.

Despite Vargas’s initial confidence, White ultimately triumphed, winning $15,200 and a spot in the Bonus Round. Lee walked away with $10,000 and a trip to Mexico, while Vargas finished with $8,000.

With her middle school dream finally realized, White chose “Place” as her bonus round category. Host Ryan Seacrest highlighted the emotional significance of the moment, recalling White’s childhood aspirations.

However, even with the standard letters and her own choices revealed, the puzzle ” _ A _ – _ A C _ ED CA_E ” proved too perplexing. White was unable to solve “JAM PACKED CAFE,” missing out on an additional $40,000.

Despite the bonus round disappointment, White still left with over $15,000 and the unforgettable experience of competing alongside her friends. A post-show interview revealed the camaraderie between the contestants, emphasizing their supportive nature off-camera.
