Experts suggest worsening drought could allow Valley Fever to spread across western U.S.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A dry and dusty day in Kern County can carry more than just tumbleweeds.

Public health officials said that dust could carry a potentially deadly threat. In April, Kern County Public Health officials announced that more people living in Kern County were infected and killed by Valley Fever complications in 2024 than in any other year.
