BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A preliminary hearing in the case of a Bakersfield attorney accused of driving drunk when he crashed into a DUI checkpoint was postponed Monday to mid-August.
William Charles Wright is now scheduled for a hearing Aug. 14 at which a judge will determine if there’s sufficient evidence to order him to stand trial on felony DUI and hit-and-run charges, according to court records. He’s also charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Wright, 43, had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet after the Dec. 14 crash, according to court filings. His blue Lexus SUV drove around a California Highway Patrol vehicle that had its emergency lights flashing as it stopped traffic on the northbound lanes of Calloway Drive at Slikker Drive, CHP reports say…
