LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The O.L. Slaton Knights are preparing to walk out of their middle school doors one last time on Friday. After nearly eight decades of serving central Lubbock students, it’s one of the three Lubbock ISD schools closing due to consolidations.
The middle school, near 34th St. and Ave. Q, is hosting a closing ceremony at 5 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. It’s welcoming former students, teachers and administrators back to walk the halls one last time.
Principal Josie Cedillo says the Knights’ sense of community is why so many students and teachers love O.L. Slaton. She says many great educators have come through their halls, including former students who came back to serve their community…
