North Fort Myers, FL – A local man is facing felony charges after allegedly shooting his neighbor’s calf five times. The incident occurred on May 13th on Sharon Drive, prompting a swift response from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Agriculture Unit.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the two-year-old calf was found on the suspect’s property suffering from five gunshot wounds. A veterinarian determined the injuries were so severe that the animal had to be euthanized.
The calf’s owner reported that the suspect, 54-year-old Hung Trinh, had previously expressed anger over livestock crossing onto his property and had even threatened to shoot them.
A search warrant executed on Trinh’s property led to the discovery of a .22 caliber firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. Trinh has been charged with animal cruelty and grand theft of a commercial farm animal.
Sheriff Carmine Marceno issued a strong statement following the arrest, emphasizing that such actions against livestock will not be tolerated. The investigation is ongoing.
