ADRIAN — The family of U.S. Army Air Corps Staff Sergeant Ralph L. Mourer, missing in action since 1944, was joined by veterans, service members and the greater community to finally lay him to rest Monday, May 19, in Adrian.
Mourer, a radio operator on a B-24 bomber flying over Germany, was killed in action in the spring of 1944 when an enemy fighter aircraft shot his bomber down near Salzwedel, Germany. The crash site was unable to be located by Allied Forces during the war and the remains of all 10 crewmembers, including Mourer, were missing for decades.
