Tuesday marks 12 years since deadly EF-5 Moore tornado

MOORE, Okla. — Tuesday marks 12 years since an EF-5 tornado hit Moore, taking 24 lives and injuring more than 200.

On May 20, 2013, a tornado, which was over a mile wide, touched down in Newcastle and stayed on the ground for over 17 miles through a heavily populated area of Moore.

Plaza Towers Elementary was hit by the tornado, where seven children lost their lives from the storm.
