PRINCETON, Texas — The City of Princeton is putting an end to an agreement that helped provide firefighting efforts to other parts of Collin County.
The Princeton Fire Department has responded to calls outside city limits since 2013, when the City entered an agreement with Collin County to provide firefighting and fire protective services in exchange for an annual fee. Starting Oct. 1, Princeton is ending that agreement.
In a release detailing the intent to terminate the deal, Princeton officials said the agreement has placed “an unsustainable burden on Princeton’s firefighting resources and does not provide fair compensation for services rendered beyond the City’s jurisdiction.” The City’s release says ending the agreement will better equip it to focus on its personnel and meet the needs of residents…
