TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS12) — A high-stakes theft ring that targeted Florida’s highways and driveways has come crashing down after its leader was found guilty.
Attorney General James Uthmeier announced on Thursday the conviction of ringleader Oscar Gomez Guerra, 56, for grand theft and trafficking in stolen property. Guerra — who led a group of Cuban nationals — orchestrated the theft of trailers, RVs, boats, campers, and other large vehicles, causing losses exceeding $550,000.
“This criminal alien took advantage of Floridians and our nation, and his behavior earned him some time with the Florida Department of Corrections,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “We secured a conviction and final deportation order for this criminal alien. He’ll pay his debt to the people of Florida, and then we’ll punch his ticket out of here.”…
