COOPERSVILLE, Mich. — The final stretch of senior year is supposed to be a time of celebration and preparation for what’s next. But for 18-year-old Coopersville High School senior Diego Cancela, it was interrupted by a moment of shock and loss.
“I was heading to work. I just took my last AP exam for high school, and I was getting on the highway,” Cancela said.
