Rail guideway construction hop over Kalihi causes conflicts

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Construction of the rail guideway for Honolulu’s Skyline is suddenly on the verge of reaching downtown and Kakaako after the contractor decided to do the last mile of guideway and stations and come back later to finish in Kalihi.

Some major landowners are not ready to work with the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation.

While utility relocation drags into next year in Kalihi, contractor Tutor Perini is jumping ahead. It plans to start the next drilling for rail column foundations this August at the intersection of Dillingham Boulevard and Kaaahi Street, the eventual site of the Iwilei station…
