AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Memorial Day is a time to honor all veterans who fought and put their lives on the line for the United States. Many cemeteries will be filled with visitors honoring veterans, and Boy Scouts Troop 10 is helping one local cemetery prepare.
Memorial Park Cemetery has 3,000 U.S. veterans resting at the center, along with 31 other veterans who have died within the last year.
Memorial Day Weekend 2025 events around Amarillo and the High Plains
Saturday morning, Boy Scouts Troop 10 prepared the cemetery so the veterans could be properly honored on Memorial Day.
“We had a flag ceremony where we have the honor guard, and we have the color guard too. You basically just put the flag on the pole, and whenever you raise it up, you do the saluting,” said Boy Scout Troop 10 Titan Meyers. “After that, we went back and then we did the national anthem before we started putting flags out into the graveyard.”…
