GARLAND, Texas — A Mesquite man is facing multiple charges after a domestic disturbance call escalated into a police chase that left two people injured Saturday morning, according to the Garland Police Department.
Officers responded around 9 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 6100 block of Bay Island Drive, where a woman reported being physically assaulted by 33-year-old Justin Bernard Johnson. Police say Johnson fled the scene in a vehicle before officers spotted him on Interstate 30.
During the attempted traffic stop, police said Johnson tossed drugs from his vehicle and sped off, eventually exiting the highway and entering Mesquite. Police say Johnson struck a bicyclist on the service road, who landed on top of the suspect’s vehicle as he continued driving.
