Memorial Day Weekend gas prices affecting travelers and local residents

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Memorial Day Weekend signals the unofficial start to summer, but high gas prices have people paying more for their holiday travel.

According to Gas Buddy, Eugene gas prices are 70 cents above the national average. Out of state travelers said they have seen the most drastic changes driving from state to state.

“They’re outrageous,” Paula Snook, a traveler, said. “They’re much better in Oregon than they are in California or Nevada, but they’re crazy, it’s crazy. We’ve travelled in the South, and it’s much cheaper.”
