Straits in Ward reopens after follow-up inspection

HONOLULU (Island News) — Straits located in Ward Village reopened on Saturday after temporarily closing this week due to some health violations.

According to Manna Restaurant Group, when Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) conducted a routine inspection at the Singaporean restaurant, management had briefly stepped away for a doctor’s appointment. The employee who was present in the kitchen at the time did not yet complete the necessary health department food handling requirements.

This led DOH to issue Straits a red placard on Thursday, May 22. Violations that were marked from the inspection included food temperatures, facility and equipment sanitation and employee hygiene/handwashing…
