GREENSBORO, N.C. — One Memorial Day tradition that has become a staple in the Triad is performed by Marine Veteran and former Greensboro Firefighter Skip Nix, who stood at attention on Wendover Avenue from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday.
Nix has been doing this every Memorial Day for nearly a decade. He’s the uncle of Sergeant Philip Dale Nix, a Greensboro Police Officer who died in the line of duty on Dec. 30, 2023, while trying to stop a crime at a Colfax gas station while off duty.
