Lost Dog Pico Reunited with Family After Incredible Multi-County Search Along I-90

CHENEY – A whirlwind rescue mission spanning multiple counties came to a joyful conclusion Saturday when a little dog named Pico was safely trapped and reunited with his family—thanks to persistence, teamwork, and the unwavering spirit of the animal rescue community.

Sylvia Fox of Fox’s Den Animal Rescue in Sprague recounted the emotional journey that began in the early hours of Friday, May 23. At 2 a.m., Pico’s family realized their beloved pup was missing—but they were already five hours past the point where they may have lost him. With uncertainty looming, they had no idea where along their route he had jumped or fallen from the vehicle. Initial guesses ranged from Moses Lake to the Gorge, and possibly even Ritzville.

Kari McKay, who had been in contact with the family, reached out to Fox and connected her with Sherry from Grant County’s Animal Rescue Friends Society (ARFS) in Moses Lake. From there, Fox was given the owner’s phone number, and the search effort gained a new lead…
