EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — A collaborative effort to revitalize a deteriorating residential section of East Cleveland has achieved a significant milestone, with local officials reporting the completion of major clean-up and remediation work that they say will pave the way for future development.
The months-long clean-up spanned several blocks between Northfield and Strathmore avenues, in an area south of Shaw Avenue and west of the railroad tracks.
The remediation project resulted in the demolition of dozens of blighted properties and the removal of 250 tons of illegally dumped materials from an area long plagued by environmental neglect, a Cuyahoga County news release said…
