INDIANAPOLIS–This summer, thousands of Indiana families are feeling the impact of the discontinued SUN Bucks program, which last year provided food assistance to over 600,000 children across the state.
Now one woman who leads an Indianapolis organization is stepping up to help fill the gap. Deandrea Raynor, founder of the Indy Community Pantry, has announced a free breakfast program for children. Starting June 16th, the pantry will offer breakfast Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 9 AM at their community fridge location at 1001 Eugene Street on the west side. No sign-ups are necessary; families can simply come and take what they need.
Raynor says she’s already seeing an increased need, with families struggling to feed their children during the summer months. The Indy Community Pantry, which began with community refrigerators, will also have groceries available.
