Anchorage’s high tree pollen count reflected in influx of patients, allergy center says

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage is experiencing particularly high pollen counts this spring — especially for birch, alder, and other tree pollens — that experts say are so high, they are the most concentrated amounts reported in the last five years.

Right now, according to the Municipality of Anchorage pollen and mold calendar, Anchorage is at the tail end of its birch and cottonwood pollen seasons.

The Asthma Allergy and Immunology Center of Alaska said the conditions outside are reflected in the high numbers of people seeking treatment for allergies and other issues in the city…
