BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The superintendent of the Bakersfield City School District made a surprise announcement of resignation from his seat at the board meeting on Tuesday.
During the closing comments of the presentation of his report May 27, BCSD Superintendent Mark Luque said the board’s work should now depend on “new leadership.”
“After much reflection, it has become increasingly apparent the differing perspectives of the board of education regarding leadership, including our roles and responsibilities as the governance team, have created challenges in effectively leading the district forward,” Luque said at the meeting.
