CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – While any rainfall will be light in the next few days, we can’t promise dry weather for a little bit longer.

After some decent clearing in parts of the area today, clouds have been filling in from the west yet again today. Within these clouds, showers are again attempting to fall. We’ve seen some reports of this reaching the ground, but it’s been pretty light in any given area.

This area of precipitation potential slowly shifts through the TV9 viewing area into the evening and night, with light rainfall possible at times. Most of it remains somewhat scattered, so we will not see rain this entire time. Outside of showers, expect mostly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the 50s again.

Wednesday’s weather looks a whole lot like Tuesday’s, with persistent cloud cover in much of the area and the lingering threat for a shower or two. Similar to Tuesday, the best chances will be early and again later in the day. Most of the activity remains pretty scattered, as highs head for the mid 60s to low 70s.

Tomorrow night offers a more distinct dry phase, with at least partial clearing likely. The upper-level storm system responsible for this more active stretch will still be close enough on Thursday, though, to keep a chance of showers around. These will be of more of the pop-up variety as we reach peak heating. Before that, sunnier skies will help more areas make it into the 70s…
