State Police investigate drowning in Burden Lake on Memorial Day

SAND LAKE — Authorities are investigating circumstances related to the drowning of a 31-year-man in Burden Lake on Monday.

State Police responded to the scene around Glen Royal Road in the town of Sand Lake around 1:50 p.m. Memorial Day, where they found bystanders attempting to resuscitate James A. Slater after he was pulled out of the lake.

Emergency care efforts from law enforcement and Sand Lake EMS were unsuccessful. Slater, a resident of the town, died on the scene, according to State Police…
