CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — After 5 years of playing a waiting game, a combination church and school in Chattanooga that suffered major damage from the Easter 2020 tornado learned that the federal government has committed money to help them rebuild.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced earlier this month that it would provide $36.9 million to Grace Baptist Church and Academy of Hamilton County
..for permanent repairs from severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding which resulted in an F-3 tornado.
A release from DHS adds, “These awards come as the Department is undertaking a thorough review of grant funding to ensure that all taxpayer dollars are properly allocated to focus on disaster relief and recovery efforts.”
