Local Asian American community rallies against bill that would ban property sales to certain immigrants

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A proposal that would ban property sales to people and companies from countries that the U.S. deems a foreign adversary is receiving pushback from members of Toledo’s Asian-American community.

Supporters say the bills are necessary to protect national security.

If enacted, they would prevent immigrants from adversarial countries from buying land within 25 miles of a military installation or critical infrastructure. That includes railroads, electric substations, water treatment facilities, natural gas pipelines, dams, telecommunications or broadband infrastructure, and more, according to one of the bill’s sponsors.
