Kern Valley State Prison inmate faces additional life term after assault conviction: DA

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An inmate at Kern Valley State Prison who is serving a life term for robbery faces an additional life term following his conviction on assault and weapons charges, according to the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.

David Charles Macon, 50, was found guilty Wednesday of two felonies and faces up to 25 years to life plus five years at his sentencing on June 26, prosecutors said.

On Jan. 23, 2024, Macon tried to slash another inmate with a weapon — narrowly missing his eyes, according to a DA’s Office release. He chased and continued trying to stab and slash the other man before prison guards intervened…
